New lights

One thing that brings us peace is visiting and decorating Tommy's grave.  We recently added some solar lights, plants, a banner and a stuffed dog.  I never imagined I would do this but now, just a few weeks later, it's what makes me happiest.  Evidently, doing things for your child never loses its significance.

Over the long weekend we visited everyday, just before sundown.  We bring chairs, blankets, hats and even coffee and tea (there is a Starbuck's across the street).  We sit quietly, and wait for the lights to come on one by one.

Tommy would like the banner.

Tommy would love the lights too!

  1. This is lovely Troy. What a nice idea to put the stuffed animal into a lantern to protect it from the elements.
We too decorated the grave as best as we can. It is a very breezy spot where Patrick is resting and we put up a little flower windmill. We one just like it in the garden at home so when I look out the kitchen window and see it spin, I picture the one up at the grave. xxx

  2. Hi Steph, we love the idea of having a little something at home to remind us of the grave. The only thing that we are struggling with right now is finding "deer-proof" flowers. There are herds of deer by the cemetery and they eat everything! Well, we haven't decided on the marker yet but plan to do it asap.
